Help Create The Other Side Village's Newest Business

Join This Impact Investment Opportunity

The Other Side Village is our most recent recommended social impact organization. They are a bold, evidence-based response to chronic homelessness that combines permanent housing, a structured therapeutic community, and clear, measurable life changes for residents. You can read more about them and their impact in this post.

A key part of The Other Side Foundation's two efforts, The Other Side Academy and The Other Side Village, is that they become self-funded through social businesses that are run by the students of the Academy and the residents of the Village. More importantly, these employment opportunities are integral to changing their lives. Outside capital is only required during the startup and high growth stages of these social enterprises.

The Other Side Foods

Fierce Philanthropy is raising $550,000 via a 3.65%, 5 year, paid quarterly, impact investment loan to The Other Side Foundation for a new freeze dry food business called The Other Side Foods. $50,000 has already been raised.

This will be the second business that the residents of the Village will run. The first being The Other Side Donuts. Other successful social businesses that are part of the Foundation include: The Other Side Movers, The Other Side Movers Denver, The Other Side Thrift Boutique, The Other Side Furniture Boutique, and The Other Side Builders.

The Other Side Foundation

The Fierce Philanthropy loan is with the highly stable and fiscally secure Other Side Foundation, the umbrella 501(c)(3) public charity for all Academy and Village efforts. The loan is secured with Other Side Foundation collateral. Current Assets at the end of last year totaled over $2M while Total Assets were over $78M. Their Debt-to-Assets ratio is just under 10%.

The Other Side Foods

The new freeze dried business is focused on the following three different income streams, one of which is already operating:

  • Freeze Dried Snacks. These will be marketed to consumers. End of year 2026 revenue projections are $10K / month with a high potential to grow.
  • Freeze Dried Powder. This is marketed to other businesses. The end of year 2026 revenue target is $5K / month.
  • Contract Marketing. This business is already operating with end of year 2026 revenue projection of $30K / month.

Five year projections for this business have it bringing in $1M in net profit per year.

Your Participation

You can participate in this loan in one of two ways: as a tax free investment from a philanthropic fund and as a normal taxed investment.

  • We can work with your foundation and most donor-advised funds (DAFs) on receiving investment funds and providing all returns back to your foundation or DAF. Those returns are not taxed as they are considered MRI/PRI returns for your foundation and Alternative Investments for your DAF.
  • We will also work with you directly for any funds you would like to invest outside of a philanthropic vehicle. These returns are taxed.

A minimum investment of $50,000 is required, though we will consider lower amounts for first time impact investors.
